In the United States you have to be 18 to purchase cigarettes and tobacco products. Everyone who smokes can sign up to receive special adds sent to their home or emails. They typically send out coupons and special portions or offers. But to redeem anything through the actual company like lets say Philip Morris you have to be 21. How is that right? If a person is 18 they can buy the cigarettes and help make the company money, but yet they can’t receive any offers from them? With Marlboro you can collect what they call Marlboro miles. After you collect a certain amount you can send them in and redeem Marlboro gear as they call it. But if you are not 21 you can not do so. I think that is ridiculous.

I’m just linking up a bunch of friends sites, trying to keep them all linked together for the serps, so this is basically a pointless post with a bunch of links in it. It lets the search engine roam a little around and kind of loop. Oh and the sky lanterns couldnt forget the sky lanterns

A man who killed his wife’s parents in 1992 was sentenced to death. However the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked the execution that was supposed to take place in Texas. They say he is so mentally ill that he doesn’t understand the punishment. While on trial in 1995 he wore a purple cowboy costume. He tried to subpoena the late President Kennedy, and Jesus Christ himself. In 2003 the Supreme Court did outlaw capital punishment on the mentally retarded but never made the standards clear.

In Boston a female was picked on at work because of her height. She was only 4 feet and a half. She would be picked up and flung on co-workers shoulders and patted on the head. Massachusetts will be the second state to pass discrimination laws based on height or weight. Places of employment make comments on peoples height and weight that they would never say about someones race or gender. The district of Columbia, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz California already prohibit discrimination on height and weight.

Smoking bans are popping up all over the United States. States are making it against the law to smoke in public buildings. They are even making it so you can’t smoke up to a certain feet close to the buildings. The states that have smoking bans right now are New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, California, and Florida. Also certain cities are making there own regulations on smoking. Even if their state is not following them. In some parts of Chicago you can’t smoke inside either. It seems as if the larger more populated cities are banning smoking first. It can be looked at in many ways. It could be discrimination against smokers. But in the long run it is going to prevent second hand smoke to those who wish to not be around smoke. It could also make environments cleaner at lets say a bar. If you don’t smoke why should you have to sit in a room full of smoke to be out having a few drinks and come home and smell like an ashtray. I think over time people will see more pros to this than cons.

People with visible tattoos that they can’t keep covered are still being discriminated against even though it is 2007. Although we have come so far over the years to not be as judgmental over the outer appearance of people it is still happening. There are even starting to consider giving social security benefits to those with facial tattoos because it is nearly impossible for them to find work.
