Two diaries were found of hers that she had wrote in the early 90’s. She seemed to be a troubled young lady. She spoke of how she was in love with J. Howard Marshall II. She also spoke of how she was depressed and concerned about her eating habits and weight.  She talked about the beginning of her relationship with Paul Marciano, CEO of Guess. Smith replaced Claudia Schiffer in the guess jean advertisements.

She talks about how she is starving because she was starving herself. She revealed a disdain for eating and for sex. She said she was growing frustration with Marshall. She complains how he would call her 15 to 20 times a day. Both diaries should have been kept private because they were private diaries but they will be put up for auction shortly.
