On thing that has come a long way for those who are hard of hearing is closed captioning. The closed captioning feature is usually standard on most televisions these days. As well as some programs have it on their channels. Now days closed captioning can translate different languages on DVD’s and videos. If it is in Spanish it can put English subtitles on it so everyone speaking either English or Spanish will know what is being said.
