A man who killed his wife’s parents in 1992 was sentenced to death. However the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked the execution that was supposed to take place in Texas. They say he is so mentally ill that he doesn’t understand the punishment. While on trial in 1995 he wore a purple cowboy costume. He tried to subpoena the late President Kennedy, and Jesus Christ himself. In 2003 the Supreme Court did outlaw capital punishment on the mentally retarded but never made the standards clear.
